Public Overpass endpoints
Community endpoints can be useful for experimentation and lighter workloads. Read and follow each endpoint’s policies and capacity guidance; availability and capacity are managed by their operators.
Self-hosted Overpass
Running your own instance gives you control over data and capacity planning. It also requires database imports, replication updates, sufficient memory and storage, monitoring, backups and query operations.
Managed Overpass
Mapsource provides a hosted Overpass QL endpoint with documented supported formats and limits. Compatibility is not universal, so compare representative queries and check current-data behavior before migration.
Choose based on workload
Estimate query patterns, response sizes and concurrency needs, then compare those with endpoint policies or published managed limits. There is no single best deployment model for every project.
